With a high demand for education that is focused on logistics, some schools are designing programs specifically for rank-and-file warehouse employees. There are numerous degrees to choose from, but all have foundation courses that cover fundamental concepts like supply chain management and operations procurement transport networks inventory management and warehousing. Some universities offer specializations in e-commerce logistics for retail, transportation, logistical analysis and global logistics management.
Graduates are prepared to work in positions like supply chain managers and logisticians. They can also serve in roles such as purchasing agents, industrial production managers and distribution managers. They can also seek certifications such as the Certified Supply Chain Manager or the Certified Public Contract Manager to improve their career prospects.
In addition to the course offerings, consider whether a university is accredited by an institution like the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation that recognizes 8,200 institutions and 44,000 programs. Also look for a university that has a suitable student-teacher ratio, as this will ensure that you get the best education.
Some colleges offer online or hybrid programs which combine classroom instruction with virtual learning opportunities. This type of program may appeal to employees who prefer flexibility in their schedules or are unable to attend traditional classes. Some online-only courses offer associate’s or certificates, while other programs offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
